Cookie Policy

This website (roamdrop.app) sets no cookies at all and stores nothing in your browser: nothing of ours, and nothing belonging to anyone else. There are no advertising cookies and no ad pixels. We do count visits, with PostHog configured so that nothing is written to your device. There is no consent banner because there is nothing stored on your device to consent to.

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files a website can store in your browser. Similar technologies include local storage and pixels. They are often used to keep you signed in, remember preferences, or measure and target advertising.

2. What this website uses

Strictly necessary cookies: none. The site is made of static pages and has nothing to remember about you.
Analytics: no cookies and no browser storage. Visits are counted with PostHog (EU cloud) in a mode that writes nothing to your device. How many people, rather than how many visits, is worked out on PostHog’s servers from a one-way hash of your IP address, your browser details and a secret that changes daily; the hash cannot be reversed, the secret is destroyed once the day is counted, and your IP address is not stored. What is recorded is the page, the link that brought you, a coarse device type, and whether the App Store button or the email form was used.
Marketing and advertising: none. No ad networks, no third-party trackers, no session recording.

Setting “Do Not Track” in your browser switches the visit counting off entirely.

3. Other things on this site

The email form on the home page sets no cookie. When you submit it, the address you typed is sent to Netlify, which hosts this site and keeps the list for us. We use it only to send you news about RoamDrop.
Links to the App Store carry a label saying that the visit came from this website, so that Apple can tell us, as a total, how many downloads the site brought. The label says nothing about you.
Published trip pages (addresses that begin with roamdrop.app/t) set no cookies and are not counted. The page fetches an encrypted copy of the trip from Apple and opens it in your browser with the key from the link; the key is never sent to any server.

4. The RoamDrop app

The RoamDrop app is not a website and uses no browser cookies. What it stores and what it sends is described in the Privacy Policy.

5. If this changes

If we ever add anything that stores information on your device, we will update this policy first and, where the law requires it (for example in the EEA and the UK), ask for your consent before it is used.

6. Managing cookies

You can clear or block cookies at any time in your browser settings. Because this site sets none, doing so changes nothing here.
