Getting started
What is RoamDrop?
RoamDrop is a travel inbox for iPhone. You drop in screenshots, bookings, tickets, PDFs, links and notes, then organize them into a clear, day-by-day trip. It is a home for the travel stuff you already have, not another blank itinerary to fill in.
Is RoamDrop on the App Store yet?
Yes. RoamDrop is on the App Store for iPhone and iPad, and planning a trip is free. Get it here.
Do I need an account?
No. Open the app and start planning, no sign-up first. The one place your Apple ID comes in is trip sharing, because invitations travel through iCloud (more on that below).
Does it work offline?
Yes. Your trips are stored on your device, so the plan opens without a signal, exactly when you're abroad and data is spotty. Reading a screenshot or PDF also happens on the phone, so imports keep working in roaming and in airplane mode.
Adding and importing
How do I add something to a trip?
Share it into RoamDrop from any app with the iOS share sheet: a screenshot from Photos, a PDF from Mail or Files, a link from Safari. Or add a card by hand inside the app. RoamDrop reads the dates, times, places and prices on your device and shows a quick review step, so you confirm before anything is saved.
How do I import a plan from ChatGPT, Notion or a chat?
Copy the text of the plan, then in the app tap the plus button and choose "Paste a plan". RoamDrop splits the text into cards, and when the plan mentions dates or days like "Day 1", it sorts the cards onto the right days. A plan without dates lands in the Unplanned inbox, ready to sort later. You tick which lines become cards, and everything stays editable afterwards.
What can a card be?
Stays, flights, food, tours, places, transport and plain notes. Photos, files and links attach to any card, so the booking confirmation lives with the day it belongs to.
Does RoamDrop replace Booking or Google Maps?
No. Keep booking and navigating where you do today. RoamDrop sits on top and pulls the pieces together into one organized, day-by-day trip.
Sharing a trip
How do I share my plan with a travel companion?
Two ways. The quick one: export the trip as a clean PDF and send it anywhere; that is the right choice for someone who just needs to look. The live one: share the trip itself. Tap Share, send the link through Messages or Mail, and the trip syncs between you through your own iCloud. Anyone who opens the link can edit the trip with you.
My companion sees "Item Unavailable". What went wrong?
Send the invitation to the phone number or email tied to that person's Apple ID: that is how iCloud matches them. If you forward the link through WhatsApp or Telegram instead, keep "Anyone with the link" selected in the share options. Under "Only people you invite", a forwarded link shows "Item Unavailable".
Privacy and your data
Does my data leave my phone?
No. Recognition of screenshots and PDFs happens on your iPhone, and nothing is uploaded to be read. The one exception is a trip you choose to share: that trip syncs through Apple's iCloud to the people you invite, not through RoamDrop servers. The details live in the Privacy Policy.
Can it read my passport or ID?
It refuses to, on purpose. Content that looks like a passport, identity card, visa or payment card is blocked from recognition, and the app offers manual entry instead. RoamDrop is for tickets and bookings, not identity documents.
How do I get my data out, or delete it?
Export any trip as a PDF, or export a complete copy of everything via Settings, "A copy of my data". Deleting a trip removes it from the app, and deleting the app removes everything it stored on your device.
Free and paid
What is free?
Unlimited trips, the day-by-day board, manual cards and pasted plans, the trip budget, PDF export and trip sharing. That part is free forever, not a trial.
What are Smart Drops?
Smart Drops pay for automatic recognition: one Drop turns one screenshot, PDF or link into a ready card, which saves you the typing. Adding cards by hand never costs anything, and unused Drops carry over between trips.
When something goes wrong
A card was recognized wrong. What do I do?
Every recognized card goes through a review step before it's saved, so you can correct a field on the spot, and you can edit any card later. If recognition missed something it should have caught, we'd genuinely like to know: see how to report it.
